The ‘experts’ used to say that while avocados were good for you, they were full of fat, so you shouldn’t eat too many. Now, “they” have done a complete turnaround and have be screaming “eat ALL the avocados, they are GOOD for you”. We don’t need convincing, but just in case you do, here’s 5 great reasons to eat more avocados:
They Lower Cholesterol. The oleic acid so prevalent in avocados can help reduce cholesterol levels. Bonus!
They contain more potassium than bananas. Potassium is necessary for the heart, kidneys, and other organs to work normally.
They are full of fibre. Of all the fibre in avocados, about two thirds is soluble fibre.
They are good for your heart. The cholesterol-lowering properties of avocado, along with its folate content, help keep your heart healthy.
The fat in them is so good it helps you to absorb nutrients. Research found adding a small amount of avocado to salads helped the absorption of these colourful pigments from carrot, lettuce, spinach and other vegetables.
